19 Little Sisters from Your Favorite TV Shows Who Totally Vanished from the Spotlight

Full House, The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Party of Five and Family Ties all had at least one little sister character. And throughout the ’80s and ’90s, we watched many of these little actresses grew up on screen. When each show ended, however, these young talents all took a different path, although many are still best remembered for the TV character that brought them fame. Find out what your favorite sitcom sisters have been up to since you saw them last.

19. Jamiee Foxworth – Judy Winslow, Family Matters

Unfortunately, things went from bad to worse for Jamiee Foxworth after her character Judy Winslow was dropped from the ’90s sitcom Family Matters. The actress found herself struggling to pay the bills and had to turn to adult film work in order to support herself. And, to top it all off, the former star developed substance abuse problems, too. But Foxworth cleaned up her act after the birth of her son in 2009 and now devotes herself full time to being a mom.

18. Tempestt Bledsoe – Vanessa Huxtable, The Cosby Show

Tempestt Bledsoe spent nearly a decade on The Cosby Show playing Vanessa, the fourth daughter of Cliff and Clair. And after the show ended, Bledose continued to work on TV, although her breakout role as the young Huxtable still remains her most memorable performance. Unfortunately, however, it seems the actress herself has some less than fond memories of her time on the popular sitcom, as she recently accused Bill Cosby of acting indecently on set.

17. Tina Yothers – Jennifer Keaton, Family Ties

Tina Yothers’ career peaked as a child when she won the role of Jennifer Keaton, the youngest daughter on TV show Family Ties. The NBC series ran from 1982 to 1989, but after it ended, Yothers dyed her hair dark and turned her attention to music instead, becoming lead singer of the band Jaded.

16. Lindsay Ridgeway – Morgan Matthews, Boy Meets World

From 1996-2005 Lindsay Ridgeway played Morgan Matthews in Boy Meets World, but she left the show to concentrate on her studies. And the actress has certainly been keeping busy since – she now has a politics degree as well as a masters in counseling.

15. Scarlett Pomers – Kyra Hart, Reba

You might recognize Scarlett Pomers from her stint as teen Kyra Hart on Reba. The actress starred in six seasons of the sitcom, but took a break from the show during the fifth season to overcome an eating disorder. A recovered Pomers went on to star in Star Trek: Voyager and even brought out an album in 2010, but she’s been seemingly happy to stay out of the spotlight ever since.

14. Emily Mae Young – Lilly Foster-Lambert, Step by Step

Emily Mae Young starred as Carol and Frank’s smart-talking daughter Lilly in Step by Step, but the 29-year-old has been keeping a very low profile since the ’90s ended. Just before fading from the spotlight altogether, however, the actress did make a brief appearance in the 1999 rom-com Undercover Angel.

13. Mackenzie Rosman – Ruthie Camden, 7th Heaven

Mackenzie Rosman looked like butter wouldn’t melt when she played Ruthie Camden, the youngest daughter in TV drama 7th Heaven, between 1996 and 2007. But when the show ended, the actress changed her image completely. In fact, she stripped down to her underwear and locked lips with a female model for a Maxim photo shoot, and has only made sporadic acting appearances ever since.

12. Erin Moran – Joanie Cunningham, Happy Days

Erin Moran rose to fame playing Joanie Cunningham in popular sitcom Happy Days, a role which she held for a decade. Afterwards the actress bagged some small TV roles, but sadly it seems Moran’s career has since seen happier days. That’s because in 2012 the actress was back in the limelight for a totally different reason, after she was snapped being evicted from her trailer park home.

11. Lacey Chabert – Claudia Salinger, Party of Five

Lacey Chabert played Claudia, the Salinger siblings’ youngest sister in TV drama Party of Five. And after the show ended, the pretty actress went on to bag a string of roles including an iconic turn as Mean Girls’ Gretchen Wieners. Earlier in 2016, the 33-year-old was also in the headlines once more when she announced she was pregnant with her first child.

10. Danielle Spencer – Dee Thomas, What’s Happening!!

What’s Happening!! star Danielle Spencer, who rose to fame playing Dee during the sitcom’s three-year run, opted for a bit of a career change after the show ended. The former child star enrolled in university and trained to be a vet, and she also penned a book about her acting experiences. In 2014, however, Spencer stepped back into the spotlight for a totally different and unfortunate reason – to announce that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

9. Susan Olsen – Cindy Brady, The Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch’s Susan Olsen took a slightly alternative career route after the show, to say the least. In fact, the former child star, who played youngest daughter Cindy in the sitcom, told ABC News she became a “marijuana grower.” Olsen also took up graphic design, and in 2009 she brought out a book about her Brady Bunch past.

7. Mayteana Morales – Gaby Fernández, Ghostwriter

Mayteana Morales played Gaby Fernández in the kids’ TV series Ghostwriter between 1992 and 1994. And after the show, the actress earned herself a degree in dramatic arts from NYU. But Morales has since ditched the screen and devoted her talents to the Brooklyn-based funk band The Pimps of Joytime instead, in which she now performs as a singer and percussionist.

6. Heidi Lenhart – Jenny Garrison, California Dreams

Heidi Lenhart continued to act after she left her sitcom days as Jenny Garrison in California Dreams behind her in 1993. But the actress never secured another high-profile TV role, and instead seemed destined to star in minor TV flops and horror flicks. Her last role was in Au Pair III in 2009, and she seems to have been lying low ever since.

5. Julianne Phillips – Frankie Reed, Sisters

Julianne Phillips played Frankie Reed, the youngest sister on the TV series Sisters, for five years –although she first came to public attention as the wife of Bruce Springsteen during the ’80s. And since parting ways with the soap – and Springsteen – the actress has largely stayed out of the spotlight, although she did briefly reunite with her Sisters co-stars for a special edition of Entertainment Weekly in 2014.

4. Jodie Sweetin – Stephanie Tanner, Full House

Jodie Sweetin played the adorable – albeit sometimes annoying – Stephanie Tanner for eight seasons of Full House. But after the show ended the actress became depressed, and she developed a substance abuse problem. Sweetin has since got herself clean, however, and she’s made a recent comeback with an appearance on Dancing with the Stars.

3. Lisa Bonet – Denise Huxtable, The Cosby Show

After seven years of playing Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show, actress Lisa Bonet was sacked in 1991 when she bared all in a couple of magazine shoots. And Bonet has had an on/off relationship with showbiz ever since she left the sitcom. In fact, the ex-wife of Lenny Kravitz has made only sporadic on-screen appearances, most notably alongside Will Smith in Enemy of the State and in the TV series Life on Mars. The rest of her time, it seems, is spent raising her three children – one of whom is actress Zoë Kravitz.

2. Keshia Knight Pulliam – Rudy Huxtable, The Cosby Show

Fans of The Cosby Show will remember Keshia Knight Pulliam as the actress who played adorable little Rudy Huxtable. But Pulliam all but disappeared from the limelight after the sitcom ended in 1992. The actress, who starred in eight seasons of the show, decided to concentrate on her studies instead, and she earned herself a sociology degree in 2001. Since graduating, however, Pulliam has made an award-winning return to the screen as House of Payne’s Miranda.

1. Tatyana Ali – Ashley Banks, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Who could forget The Fresh Prince of Bel Air’s little cousin, Ashley Banks? Tatyana Ali played the young teen from 1990 to 1996, and the 37-year-old has barely aged a day since. And although Ali has made a number of TV and films appearances over the years, none of her roles have surpassed the fame she reached as the youngest Banks daughter.
