20 Reasons Why Ryan Reynolds Is Actually The Worst

While Ryan Reynolds’ PR team may have fooled many into believing that the actor is not only good-looking and hilarious but talented to boot, you can’t pull the wool over our eyes. In fact, there are so many reasons why the Deadpool star is actually the worst – and here are just 20 to start.

20. He was a total snowflake

Many respected thespians are first introduced to acting through the works of Shakespeare or Arthur Miller. Unfortunately for Reynolds, though, his first time treading the boards wasn’t quite as prestigious. Indeed, the star made a rather inauspicious start to his career by playing a singing snowflake in fourth grade. And no, that doesn’t sound totally adorable at all…

19. He has no time for education

Reynolds haters may be pleased to know that the actor passed on a major role early in his career. Indeed, while speaking to The Toronto Star in 2008, he admitted to rejecting the leading role of Xander in Buffy the Vampire Slayer because his own high school experience was “f**king awful.” Nothing to empathize with there, right? And we bet he made himself unpopular in class by being all handsome and charming, too.

18. He can’t even buy his own pizza

We’ve all made bad decisions in our time, but one of Reynolds’ mistakes really takes the biscuit. Or should that be pie? That’s because the star thought that Beacon Street Pizza, from his show Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, existed in real life. He even went searching for the emporium while promoting the film Van Wilder in Boston. And that kind of devotion to a cause – not to mention that kind of devotion to pizza – is not something that we’d ever swoon over. Nope, not at all.

17. He can be a horror with child actors

If, as is believed, Reynolds is a great dad, than it’s hard to explain why he was so distant to the actors playing his children in 2005’s The Amityville Horror. In fact, his young co-stars thought he genuinely hated them. And it couldn’t just be that Reynolds behaved that way to better portray an abusive father on screen, or that he actually cared about doing his job well…

16. He can’t take a compliment

Reynolds may have been crowned People’s Sexiest Man Alive in 2010, but he practically threw that accolade back in his fans’ faces when speaking to Cosmopolitan three years later. “I feel like an overweight, pimply-faced kid a lot of the time,” he confessed to the women’s magazine. Someone should tell him that displaying that level of insecurity and humility won’t endear him to anyone.

15. He can’t do his job properly

Given Reynolds’ illustrious screen career, you’d think he’d have this acting thing down. Well, according to the man himself, he can’t even get that right. Indeed, while promoting Deadpool in 2016, the star admitted to Australian radio station Nova 96.9 that he regularly gets stage fright. “I still have that terrible polarizing fear that, like, the magician in Vegas is gonna call me up on stage… I have a little panic in my heart,” he said. And that’s definitely not something that lots of other people can really relate to.

14. He can’t sing to save his life

And it seems as if Reynolds suffers from a lack of confidence in his singing voice, too. What’s more, he especially loathed having to display his crooning skills in 2014’s The Voices. “I looked like cold yogurt as I came in to record my part… it looked like I was going in for a very aggressive prostate exam,” he joked to lifestyle magazine Shortlist in 2015. It turned, out though, that he nailed it. Or, at least, that’s what we’ve heard people say; we, on the other hand, really, totally, 100 percent disagree. Honest.

13. He over-indulged Down Under

In 2006 Reynolds was a rising Hollywood star. However, instead of knuckling down and seeking further roles like any sensible, career-minded young man, he selfishly went looking for thrills. Specifically, he put his prospects on hold to take a self-indulgent cross-country motorbike trip through Australia. We certainly wouldn’t do exactly the same thing if we had the chance, nor do we think that sounds in any way awesome.

12. He’s unbearably polite

Undoubtedly, good manners are a virtue. Reynolds, however, is possibly too polite for his own good. “Generally, I care for other people,” the star told Elle magazine in March 2017. “I always say ‘excuse me,’ ‘thank you’ and ‘I’m sorry.’” Someone tell him that being that thoughtful and considerate isn’t attractive in the slightest…

11. His taste in music is a dud

Given one particular stunt that Reynolds has pulled, we’re frankly surprised that Blake Lively hasn’t filed for divorce yet. As Lively herself admitted to designer Michael Kors in 2017, her husband played Marvin Gaye’s thoroughly inappropriate “Let’s Get It On” while she gave birth to their daughter James. She probably didn’t laugh through the pain, either, as that’s in no way hilarious at all.

10. Even his kids prefer their mom

If you want to hear the unvarnished truth, then you should speak to a child. And Reynolds found this out the hard way, while learning in the process just which parent his eldest daughter prefers. Indeed, while chatting to Jimmy Fallon in 2015, the star revealed that a then one-year-old James had called him “mama.” That’s not cute in the slightest, nor do we love Reynolds any more for revealing it.

9. He wouldn’t do anything for his daughter

Perhaps James’ preference for mom Blake Lively is understandable, though, considering how little Reynolds would do for her. Speaking to GQ in 2015, Reynolds said, “I would walk through fire for [her]. Or maybe not fire. Like, a very hot pavement, I’d walk through.” Seems like he takes any opportunity to show off his sparkling wit and affection for his children…

8. And he’s scarred his daughter for life

And little James’ seeming penchant for being with mom, not dad, could be explained in part through one of Reynolds’ questionable parenting moves. The movie star revealed all in a tweet in July 2016, when he wrote, “My infant daughter’s traumatized for life. 50 Shades of Grey = worst f**king coloring book ever.” We’re honestly not laughing at that, and we really don’t see how that makes him relatable to parents across the planet, either.

7. He’s the worst interviewer ever

On top of his glib use of Twitter, Reynolds also has a tendency to poke fun during interviews. In 2016 he even hijacked a chat with Hugh Jackman in which he asked the X-Men star a series of mocking questions. “Many actors enjoy performing their own stunts,” he inquired. “Do you do all your own acting?” That’s totally unprofessional, dude. And anyone who thought that the whole scenario was a refreshingly hilarious take on the usually humdrum press junket should definitely think again.

6. His passion for pooches is a little over the top

Undoubtedly, a lot of people like dogs, but it seems that Reynolds’ love for our four-legged friends goes further than most. In 2010, for instance, the star adopted a stray called Baxter to be a companion to his dog Billie, a “leash-free, stress-free, fur-covered badass” who regularly graces the star’s Instagram feed. That’s a bit much: surely a family only needs one dog, right? And don’t you dare suggest that this makes Reynolds even more lovable.

5. He badmouthed his wife on live TV

After meeting on the set of 2017’s Life, Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal have become rather inseparable. That relationship, moreover, may have inspired a remark that Reynolds could still be in the doghouse for. To wit, in March 2017 Reynolds told Good Morning America’s hosts that the Nightcrawler star is a more expert cook than his wife. And we’re not going to overlook that cutting remark just to fawn over the guys’ completely adorable bromance.

4. He got a little too into character while out trick-or-treating

While filming 2016’s superhero smash Deadpool, Reynolds crashed a party of trick-or-treaters in his on-screen costume. However, judging by a video of the encounter posted to his Twitter feed, the actor may have channeled his profane character a little too well in front of the children. And while some may call the whole thing charming and say that he gave the kids involved an experience they’ll always remember fondly, we definitely don’t agree with either of those assertions.

3. He makes our efforts to save the planet look pitiful

When it comes to being green, it’s seemingly not enough for Reynolds to just recycle like the rest of us do. No, he has to go one step further by aiding conservation efforts, too. Oh, and he also acts as a philanthropic ambassador for eco-friendly clothing group Eddie Bauer. Way to make us all look bad in comparison, man.

2. And he puts many of us to shame when it comes to charity

Nature isn’t the only cause that the Deadpool star has dedicated his time to helping, either. Spurred on by his father’s diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease in the early 1990s, Reynolds ran the New York Marathon in 2008 to raise donations towards battling the illness. But let’s get this straight: the only reason we have tears in our eyes is because someone’s chopping onions here, okay?

1. He singled out one fan for special treatment

Perhaps you’re still upset that Reynolds didn’t reply to your tweet professing your undying affection for him. If so, then you’ll be fuming when you learn about what he did for another fan – and it took a lot more effort than just hitting the “love” button, too. That is, the star personally showed terminally ill 13-year-old Connor McGrath a rough cut of the then-unreleased Deadpool, just because McGrath wanted to see the movie. And… well, we can’t pretend any more. Let’s just face it: Ryan Reynolds is totally the best.
