Kourtney Kardashian Has Finally Responded After Kendall Jenner Slammed Her Parenting Skills

All is not well in the Kardashian-Jenner camp. Back in 2019 Kendall Jenner made a comment about her half-sister Kourtney that the latter took major offense to. Of course, everyone’s used to seeing the Kardashian family metaphorically tear each other’s hair out, but this one was just that little bit worse since it involved the minefield that is parenting.

For years now, people have eagerly watched the Kardashian-Jenners feud. Sometimes it’s on the show Keeping Up With the Kardashians and its various spinoffs, and sometimes it’s on social media. Since they’re all so famous that there’s no escaping the knowledge that this family are constantly arguing. And chances are you can’t look away.

Yep, questions of parenting have come up before as well. The Kardashian matriarchs are Kris and her ex-wife Caitlyn Jenner, Caitlyn having come out as transgender back in 2015. Two years after that she told reporter Piers Morgan of her family, “I’ve lost all relationship with them, yes, I don’t talk to any of them anymore.” Ouch.

Caitlyn seemed especially to have problems with Khloe. In a May 2018 Instagram post she indicated that she was cool with all the other Kardashian ladies except Khloé. On that Mother’s Day, she made an Instagram post celebrating all the “amazing moms” in her life… and very noticeably left Khloé out.

And that particular Kardashian feud just went on and on. When Caitlyn went on the reality show I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in 2019, she told her fellow contestants Khloé was “[angry] about something through this whole [transition] process,” and, “It’s been five or six years, and I really haven’t talked to her since.”

There have been indications more recently that maybe the pair have made up, but it’s clear that while the Kardashians sometimes quarrel about the most hilariously trivial of things, there’s some meat to the worst of their arguments. Sometimes it’s about dresses… but sometimes it’s about who’s a good parent.

Kourtney and Kendall’s feud started out with something pretty trivial, as well. It involved a ski trip, expensive holidays being commonplace for the Kardashians of course. While on this vacation, Kourtney apparently infuriated her half-sister by putting her muddy shoes in Kendall’s car and generally being annoying. Familiar stuff to those with siblings obviously, but reality TV’s first family just had to take it further.

In a June 2019 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kendall told the cameras, “This past weekend, Kourtney came with me and my friends on a ski trip… Kourtney and I have been getting a bit closer over the past couple years, and I love that she hangs out with me and my friends. But, to be honest, I felt like there were just some moments where she was a bit rude, and it really started to get to me at a certain point.”

Kourtney on the other hand had a different view of things. She claimed that it had been Kendall being annoying, getting upset over buying potatoes for example. This blew up fast, with Kourtney announcing, “I definitely think it was unfair for Kendall to say I was bullying her. We were just having a good time.”

Kourtney also added, “She’s just way more uptight than I thought, because I wasn’t trying to make fun of her at all.” Obviously, that didn’t do much for sisterly relations. Khloé got involved and tried to let them talk it out, but that just escalated the whole situation. It made for fantastic reality TV, though.

Kendall yelled, “I don’t understand how my own sister is talking [bad things] about me to my friends.” So Kourtney shot back with “Why are you telling the story back and forth to everybody? Are you in third grade?” The seeds for their later, more serious argument were very much sown.

Then things suddenly exploded, and the two sisters were caught on camera actually, physically fighting. If that sounds like a massive overreaction, don’t worry, it wasn’t real. The two staged the fight to punish Khloé for “getting into our business.” Khloé concluded, “I know for next time just let them figure it out on their own.”

Maybe that could be the mantra for the whole Kardashian-Jenner family. Both Kourtney and Kendall seem to love fighting with their siblings, and lots of fascinating feuds kicked off in 2020 alone. For a start, Kourtney started bickering with her most famous sister Kim when Kim implied that other members of the family weren’t pulling their weight.

Upon hearing that Kendall unleashed a profanity-laden rant at Kim about how she had “been having major panic attacks.” And Kourtney agreed with Kendall. It came to a head in the typical reality television way… Kim and Kourtney had a physical fight, and this time it was real. Well, presumably.

And Kendall’s been slapping her younger sister Kylie as well. How do this lot not break their nails? And yep, it was over something trivial again. In the latter half of the 2020 Keeping Up With the Kardashians show, audiences got to see Kendall freaking out when Kylie wore an outfit that she herself wanted.

Kendall loudly complained, “Kylie comes in and everyone bows down to Kylie and lets her wear whatever… she wants.” Yeesh. She also thought she didn’t look stylish enough compared to her sisters. She moaned that she looked like she was going to “lunch,” while the others were “going out.” Apparently there’s a big distinction between those two things.

Before anyone could interject with a “Kendall, there’s people who are dying,” it had turned physical. According to Kendall herself, “[Kylie] smacked me, so I came back at her and smacked her in the face, and then she took her heel and put it to my neck. So I started kicking her back.” She also declared that she would never speak to her sister again.

So that’s the sort of thing we’ve all come to expect from the Kardashian-Jenners over the years. But, of course, once you involve kids and parenting rather than dresses and shoes, it’s a completely different ball game. And all the main second-generation Kardashian and Jenner women are mothers, apart from Kendall.

You’ve probably at least heard the names of the younger Kardashian kids. Kim has four with her famous husband Kanye West, and they’re called Psalm, Chicago, Saint, and North. Khloé and Kylie have one daughter each, True Thompson and Stormi Webster. And Kourtney has three children: Mason, Reign, and Penelope.

That’s not even all of them. Rob Kardashian, the brother of the Kardashian family, has one kid named Dream Renee with model Blac Chyna. Oh, and don’t forget the stepbrothers either. These are Burt and Brody, the sons Caitlyn Jenner had before marrying Kris Jenner. Neither has kids yet, but they might one day.

Obviously people take a lot of interest in how the Kardashians parent their kids, and it was this which further propelled the feud between Kendall and Kourtney. Everything kicked off again when the model went on The Late Late Show With James Corden in 2019 and played a particular, super awkward game.

The game was “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” and it’s exactly as gross as it sounds. Celebs have to either answer a personal question or ingest something icky. When it was Kendall’s turn, she had the choice of either ranking her siblings by who was the best parent or drinking some thousand-year-old eggnog.

Unsurprisingly, Kendall chose the difficult question over the option of possibly poisoning herself. To be fair, before ranking them she said they were all good parents. But then she said, “I’d say Rob is Number one. He’s so good to his daughter. That’s so hard, they’re all amazing. Then it would be, like, Khloé, Kim, Kylie, Kourtney.”

Now that’s super awkward. And fans of the Kardashian-Jenner clan thought exactly the same thing. One person wrote on Twitter, “As if Kourt’s whole brand ain’t being a mum? Lol.” But then they added on, “Personally I think judging people’s parenting when you aren’t a parent is a dangerous line.”

In response to that post, another Twitter user wrote, “But I’m not surprised. [Kourtney’s] children do seem like they’re wild. They run the show at home. No discipline whatsoever. But that doesn’t make her a bad mum.” Some people on the app defended Kourtney, while others laughed at her misfortune.

Then Kim herself stepped in. Not long after the interview, she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and tried to set the record straight. She said that yes, despite Kendall saying at the beginning that she thought all her siblings were great parents, Kourtney had been pretty upset to be placed last.

Kim said, “I completely understood that Kourtney was sensitive over that because she’s an amazing parent. Kendall should’ve just drank or eaten a tarantula or whatever she had to do.” However, she also added that she herself had once drunk something gross on the game, namely a sardine smoothie, to avoid answering a question about Khloé and Kylie.

During that same interview, Kim revealed that she herself was having an issue with Kourtney. Her sister, she thought, was only engaged with making the show when “she feels like it,” and Kim felt like she was the one the extra work had fallen to. She complained, “If one family member goes on vacation a lot or takes time off a lot, the other family members have to step in and take over those hours.”

Kim went on, “So for the past year, Khloé and I have been taking over [Kourtney’s] hours, working, because we need content to make the show. It’s been exhausting for us when she hasn’t taken that into consideration without making a decision of what she wants to do. Stay on the show [or] not, but to be in this limbo and have us do this for so long is frustrating.”

However, Kim did add, “But we’re in a good place about respecting each other’s space. And if someone doesn’t want to be on the show, we obviously want them to have that mental break and live their life exactly the way that they want.” That was one feud averted… but what about the Kourtney and Kendall one?

Kendall came clean about the whole parenting slam in September 2020. Obviously, almost a year had passed since the incident, but the family hadn’t forgotten about it. Kendall and Kourtney answered questions regarding the feud when they both appeared on Kate and Oliver Hudson’s Sibling Revelry podcast.

Kourtney began, “Kendall recently said something recently that I wasn’t happy about. She went on James Corden, and they said rate your siblings in order of best parent to worst parent. And I saw her right after at a party, and she ran up to me and was like, ‘Oh my God I said this thing, and I said you as a last parent, and it was a joke, I didn’t mean it,’ and I was like, ‘Okay…’”

Kendall interrupted Kourtney to declare, “First of all that is not what I said to you. I went up to you, because I was like, ‘I’m going to put Rob first, and the rest I’m just not even going to… I’m just going to throw them out there. I swear to God, this is how it played, she happened to be the last one. Then I was like, ‘Okay that sounds kind of bad.’”

The model went on, “They’re all incredible parents. I don’t have kids, I can’t really speak for anyone because I don’t have a child. But I know just visually how amazing they are.” Kourtney wasn’t quite buying Kendall’s defense, though. She complained that her family saw her as an “easy target.”

But perhaps there was a slight issue. Kendall seemed to imply that – just like the fans on Twitter – she believed that Kourtney didn’t discipline her kids enough. Though she said, “I can’t really speak because I don’t have kids,” when asked who the most lenient parent was, straight away she answered, “Kourt.”

Kourtney and Kendall don’t appear to be feuding anymore – hooray! The Sibling Revelry podcast was in many ways a wild ride, with lots of revelations about the family being thrown out. But the show also came just on the heels of a big, big Keeping Up With the Kardashians announcement.

The smash-hit reality show would be coming to an end in 2021. It had been running for 19 seasons, some people had potentially been following it for their entire lives. That wasn’t even getting into the 12 spin-off shows KUWTK had spawned. But the 20th series would be the very last.

In an interview one month after the announcement, Kim said that the Kardashian-Jenner children had factored into the decision to end the show. She told Grazia magazine, “We have kids now. And they need us. There’s so much going on that even just for a minute, we need a break.”

But Keeping Up With the Kardashians isn’t quite over yet, and there’s still plenty of things to work out. Take that Kylie-Kendall fight, for example. Apparently there’s still some bad blood there. Not long after it happened Kylie posted a picture of her sister on Instagram, only for Kendall to comment, “Aren’t we fighting?” on it.

And don’t forget that massive fight between Kim and Kourtney. During an October 2020 KUWTK episode, Kris asked Kourtney about it and she said, “It's just such a natural thing in our family… if anyone goes anyway against what everyone else is doing, it just seems like they just attack.” Too right…
