On July 18, 1969, Ted Kennedy was involved in an infamous car crash that killed his 28-year-old passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne. And while the senator’s presidential aspirations were seemingly curtailed by what became known as the Chappaquiddick incident, he nonetheless spoke freely about the tragedy on a number of occasions prior to his death in 2009.
