The world of television can be a harsh one. You can have a fantastic, funny, well-written show – but if it fails to get ratings, the cancellation button awaits. That’s what happened to these 20 shows. All of them were canned after just one season, but their losses were seriously unjust. And some of them now have such huge fanbases that the people responsible for their junking might just be kicking themselves.
20. Almost Human (2013-2014)
Almost Human took the old “human and robot are buddy cops” premise to its next level. Michael Ealy played a snarky human-like android in a futuristic world, with Karl Urban as his prejudiced partner. The cast was great, the idea was great, and it was even produced by J.J. Abrams. Yet despite all that it failed to get high ratings and is now sadly reduced to the status of a promising might-have-been.
19. FlashForward (2009-2010)
The high concept FlashForward had an intriguing plot: everyone on Earth suddenly loses consciousness and experiences a “flashforward” of six months. Critics agreed that it was a story worth exploring, but it seemed audiences did not. The pilot was watched by over 12 million people, but as the weeks passed the viewers drifted away. The show was canceled. But the book it was based on is still out there!
