Believe it or not, Princess Charlotte actually shares a name with her late grandmother. The three-year-old’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – Elizabeth after her great-grandmother, the Queen, and Diana after William’s mother. Charlotte, on the other hand, is the female version of the name Charles, the little girl’s grandfather.
Even though Diana has been gone from her son’s lives since August 1997, William and Harry still remember and love their mother. She was instrumental in turning them into the young men they became. Before she came along, though, there was a particular set of rules for royal children. They were never expected to be treated like normal kids.
But Diana changed all that. She decided to raise William and Harry as ordinary boys, and never listened to anyone saying she should do otherwise. She watched T.V. with them in the evenings, took them on outings and let them get Big Macs from McDonalds at weekends. It was something different for the royals, but it worked.
